CSS is a band that I really wan't to love, because I was totally blown away by their debut album Cansei De Ser Sexy in 2005. I loved the cocky attitude and the mixture of indie pop, punk and electro. Unfortunatly I belive that their success plays part in why their second album Donkey and this one lacks some of the things that made the debut a hit. This is to polished and clean. I belive it was the imperfections that made the debut unique and I miss the punkier side of the band.
La Liberatión has gotten alot of bad reviews and I do agree that this is album is not near as good as the previous ones. It has a few redeeming songs though. I reallly like the title track La Liberación with it´s pop-punk vibe and lyrics in Portuguese. I also like the more elctronic songs I love you and City Grrrl. You just have the ignore the lyrics! (they suck). The rest of the album is kind of blend and ok, but not more. This is like an animal that is too well fed to bother with the hunt... and I just wish that CSS get hungry again before their next recordning.
