Style: Electro
Label: BCM Records

A  Batman (The original swing)
B  R-Cop (Who-R-U)

There was a bit of Batman-mania in 1989 when Tim Burton released his version of the dark knight of Gotham city. Prince provided a soundtrack and the 'bat-signal' was printed on just about everything. Just as the 'smiley' during the acid-frenzy during the same period.

The bat-craze also hit Miami where producers Lawrence Davis, Joseph Louis Stone & Paul Klein (a.k.a. DSK or The Fly Boys) did a electro, Miami bass, version of the Batman theme from the tv-series from 1966-1968.

B.O.S.E. combination of comicbook super hero and drum sounds from a Roland TR-808 is very hard not to fall in love with for a nerd such as I. This is funny and funky, with a electronic finnish.

And the fun continues on the b-side with more electro and movie samples. R-Cop (Who-R-U) was originally relesed in 1988 and is filled with sounds and samples from the movie Robocop.

Let's do the batdance, electro syle with the original swing!

The Twins - Face to face
Format: 12"
Style: Synthpop
Label: International Deejay Gigolo Records

A  Face to face (Re-recorded original version)
B  Face to face (Naughty's italo disco mix)

This is The Twins classic song Face to Face from 1982 in a re-recorded version and an updated dance mix. The new recording and mix was done in 2002.

Not much to say about the original song since it is such a classic. It is also one of those rare songs that you never seem to get tired of.

I do enjoy the Naughty's italo disco mix though. The structure of the song is pretty intact and they have just given it a little more oumpf in the drums and given the song a touch of electro clash. I would love to dance to this version.

A  Acid in the house
B  Acid in the house (Instrumental)

We are back in 1988 again to have a look at the fourth release from Kaos Dance Records. This is produced by the New beat legends Chris Inger, Harry Van Oekel and Praga Khan. The lead singer on this track is a young girl named Nicky Vermeulen a.k.a. Miss Nicky Trax.

This is one of the really great tracks from the label. It's very acid and very groovy. It's also a plus that the vocals are acctuallly sung and don't consist of a bunch of samples, as it tend to do in this genre.

Does anyone have an explanation to why there is wrestling clips in this video? :D

Memory is the debut album from the american band //Tense//, and was released by the french label Desire in 2009. //Tense// is very much the work of creator and front man Robert Lane. In the studio it is a solo project, but live it is a three piece band with reinforcement from Maria Saldana and Seth Nemec.

The music is dark and very funky. Cabarait Voltaire is a great influence according to Robert, but I also hear alot of Belgian influences like The Klinik and Vomito Negro.

I really love this music. It sounds analogue and oldschoool and should appeal to everyone interested in dark dance music. Especially the album Memory, wichis really accessible with straight forward songs. Later releases with the band are a little bit more experimental and introvert.

Favorite tracks from the album are Lead head, Mine too, Sin realite and Rapid pulse.

Memory + is a very limited casette (75 copies) with the album on one side and remixes on the b-side. The remixes are ok, but nothing really stands out, with the exception of the Soft Metals remix of Mine Too. This remix is very cool and should work very nice for the dancefloor.
