This one has been on my radar for a long time, and I'm really happy to finally have a copy in my collection. It's a rare record from a scottish band that existed between 1980 - 1982.
Drinking Electricity released six singles and one album during it's short existence. The sound is very timeless and very effective. I think this is a perfect example of post punk with the use of synths and drum machine. The unique singing by voclaist Anne-Marie Heighway is one of the key ingridients that makes this album special, and it's all about attitude and originality.
Overload has moments when the singing reminds me of Cia Berg from swedish 90's band Whale. Maybee Drinking Electricity was one of their influences. It has also been an influnce on Crystal Castles that sampled Good Times for their hit Good Time in 2008.
Overall a really good, calssic record, but Discord Dance and Good times stand out as personal favorites. This is music to be inspired and influnced by even today, 30 years later.
Found my copy at Tradera and payed 45,09€.
