The noise of Lamb at Debaser, Malmö

I last saw Lamb at the Roskilde festival in 1999. Then they knocked me off my feet with their concert and made a killer gig. That show easily qualified them for my top ten list of live performances. So I had high hopes about seeing them again, but at the same time low expectations.

It's not many band that continue to deliver at that level after 10 years (including a five year split between 2004 - 2009). After their reunion in 2009 and some gigs at festivals, they recorded new material and released a very good album, 5, in may 2011.

But once again this band amazes me. The mix of beautiful, almost ambient sounds, ravaged by noisy sub basses, breaks and drum & bass rythms by Andy Barlow, topped with the magnificent voice of Louise Rhodes is still magic to me. And when you have that level of musicianship combined with a band in good mood and the intimate atmosphere of Debaser in Malmö; then you get something very special. The only downside was that it should have been more people in the audience. It felt like the place was only half filled.

Thank you Lamb for bringing your lovely noise to us again.
